Grayscale Ethereum Trust-dossiers om een SEC-rapporterend bedrijf te worden temidden van de Ethereumstierloop.

Op 6 augustus diende Grayscale Ethereum Trust een dossier in om een SEC-meldpunt te worden.

Te midden van de Ether (ETH) stierloop besloot Grayscale Investments vrijwillig om van haar Ethereum Trust een SEC-meldpunt te maken. Het bekendste investeringsproduct van het bedrijf is een Bitcoin Trust die ongeveer 400.000 Bitcoin (BTC) bezit, met een waarde van bijna $4.744.800.000 sinds de perstijd. Daarnaast heeft de Ethereum Trust momenteel 1,9 miljoen ETH in haar bezit, met een waarde van ongeveer $746 miljoen. Net als bij andere Grayscale producten treedt Coinbase op als bewaarder.

Grayscale merkte op dat het depot wordt herzien. Indien goedgekeurd, zou het het tweede cryptocurrency investeringsvehikel zijn om een dergelijke status te bereiken:

„De archivering is onderworpen aan SEC-onderzoek; als de registratieverklaring van kracht wordt, zou het Grayscale Ethereum Trust aanwijzen als het tweede digitale valuta investeringsvehikel om de status van een rapporterend bedrijf te bereiken door de SEC, na Grayscale® Bitcoin Trust als de eerste.“

Dit zou de Trust waarschijnlijk een gunstiger beeld geven aan potentiële institutionele beleggers.

In een verklaring aan Cointelegraph benadrukte Grayscale de toegenomen bereidheid om verder te diversifiëren dan Bitcoin voor de terugkerende institutionele beleggers. In het laatste kwartaal diversifieerde 81% van deze beleggers hun belangen buiten Bitcoin om, een stijging van 71% over de laatste 12 maanden.
